The Secret Deep

Hi booknerds,
I found the book The Secret Deep in one of my favorite bookstores. The blurb was so catching that I couldn’t put it back. The book is written by Lindsay Galvin and was her first book to get published. I think she did a great job!

The story (No spoilers)
The sisters Aster and Poppy sadly become orphans. And with no other relatives apart from their aunt the choice has been made for them. They have to leave and go live with her. On the plane they meet a boy called Sam, who turns out to be of more importance than the sisters could’ve imagined.
One day while the sisters are living with their aunt everything changes. Aster wakes up on an abandoned tropical island without remembering how she got there. Also, her little sister Poppy is nowhere to be seen.
Gladly for the sisters, Sam starts to discover links between the missing girls and strange things happening in his own life.
The answer to why Aster is on the island and what’s happening around it and in the underwater world will reveal itself during the story. It’s more and better than you can imagine.

My opinion
I really like this book! Apart from the beautiful cover, the pages also have really pretty little drawings on them.
The story was beyond my expectations. There’s way more fantasy in there than I thought there would be. And this is a good thing! At one point I got really lost to how everything added up, but in the end it all makes sense! I wish there was a sequel, I want more!

Conclusion
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. It’s super original and I had a hard time putting it away. This book completely absorbed me and made me forget about reality. I loved it!
