It’s no news that Ariana Grande has released her 4th album, called: Sweetener. I’m a huge fan of her and have been ever since 2010. I’ve been counting down to this album for a long time and I’m not disappointed. Actually, I am blown away! There is/are so much/many creativity, feelings and lessons in this music. The album debuted #1 in over 50 countries and has officially debuted #1 on Billboard. Overall, you could call her 4th album a succes.
1. raindrops (an angel cried)
3. the light is coming
5. God is a woman
10. no tears left to cry
12. better off
13. goodnight n go
14. pete davidson
15. get well soon
The #1 hits from this album: The light is coming & God is a woman are already well known. The song Breathin is also doing great in the charts.
Pharell Williams has helped composing a lot of the tracks on this album, which helped creating a different vibe. On this album you’ll hear lots of catchy synths and rhythms. But apart from all these good vibes, this album is also the most personal album Ariana has made.
She’s been through a lot this past year:
The traumatizing event in Manchester, the breakup with Mac Miller, her beloved brother got addicted and she got engaged.
“Know better than to bark up my tree
Just for me to fall and leave
Nah, I’d rather just watch you smoke and drink, yeah.”
I strongly believe is about Mac Miller.
She wrote a song called Pete Davidson, which is obviously about her new fiancé Pete Davidson.
In the song No tears left to cry Ariana sings:
“Right now, I’m in a state of mind
I wanna be in, like, all the time
Ain’t got no tears left to cry
So I’m pickin’ it up, pickin’ it up
I’m lovin’, I’m livin’, I’m pickin’ it up”
What refers to keeping on going even after and during dark times. I think that’s a great message.
Her song Breathin, has had me in tears many times already. It’s about her anxiety (attacks) and how that feels. She sings:
“Keep on breathing”
I absolutely love this message.
With the last song of the album, called Get well soon, something astonishingly is going on. There is a 40 seconds silence at the end of the track, after a short beep. This results in the fact that the song is 5 minutes and 22 seconds long. This represents the date of the Manchester Bombing. This way Ariana wants to honour the victims. Ariana said: “I wanted to give people a hug, musically.”. With this song she wants to comfort everyone and tell them it’s going to be alright.
What a work of art this album is…
