You blow me away
like a feather in the storm
Into nothingness
Where you feel I belong
You sweep me away
like dust on your sleeve
Your new clothing
is too good for me
You barely look at me
But whenever you do
It’s as if I’m not there
You’re looking right through
You don’t hear me
or you ignore me
I no longer know what’s true
All I know is
That I notice
Hoping one day
you’ll value me too

You describe textbook manipulations used by abusive men to maintain control in their intimate relationships by devaluing their partners and thus isolating them from their support systems. I know: I prosecute them. Please don’t let it happen to you. Be true to yourself. Stand up for the truth about your worth and value. Best to you.
